Kindle e-reader to be cheaper in Japan by 500 yen

 

Even before its expected release date of November 19^th, Amazon has slashed its price by 500 yen for its Japanese customers. The Kindle e-reader will now cost 7980 yen for Japanese customers. Amazon has commences taking pre-orders for the wifi only Kindle PaperWhite from October 24^th and the shipping is expected from November 19^th. 

The competition is cited as the main reason behind this move by Amazon. The main competitors are Ledeo from Toppan which is also using broadband technology. Sony also has a product which is sold through Rakuten a Japanese online store. The arrival of tablet computers too  may have prompted Amazon to make a price cut decision.
