Free Antivirus Software – Avira

Avira is offered as free antivirus software. The malware detection scores well above the acceptable limits, scoring well above other free Antivirus products. The browser level protection for the user is also good as other free antivirus products. Some reviews speak of very good performance in blocking URL capable of downloading malwares.

The installer of Avira also installs a multipurpose toolbar. This toolbar is quite useful in deciding the browser security levels. An indicator is provided to show the risk level for the website that is being browsed in the form of green, yellow and red indicating its risk levels. This is one good feature, because the user can not only see the actual risk level of the website, the details of the rating it assigns also displayed by clicking on them.

One of the usefulness of this toolbar is it allows the users to block the sites that gather information of your browsing habits. This is very convenient because nowadays it is very common for social networks, advertisers and similar sites do tracking activity for some benefits. Another good feature is the user without logging in can Tweet, give a +1 on Google Plus or Like a page.

This version requires careful installation procedure. I have read about some difficulties experienced by the users. The difficulties range from lack of keyboard access, to average malware removal although the detection was good.
