Amazon to enter chip making business?

The online retailer Amazon is reported to be in talks with Texas Instruments to buy the latter’s mobile chip division. If the deal comes through, Amazon will be making long inroads into the hardware business. The company already has a foothold in the table market segment with Kindle Fire. Entering hardware business, it put itself in competition with other players like Apple and Samsung. Following the Apple’s business model, Amazon might expand the Kindle into new range of products, using these chip making facility. It should be noted that last month Texas instruments made an announcement that they intend to shift focus away from mobile products and chip business.

Meanwhile the companies have not confirmed about acquisition talks
